Suddenhearinglossismoderatetoseveresensorineuralhearinglossthatdevelopssuddenly,withinafewhoursorisnoticedonawakening.Itaffectsabout1/to1/10,peopleeachyear.Initialhearinglossistypicallyunilateral(unlessdrug-induced)andmayrangeinseverityfrommildtoprofound.Manyalsohavetinnitus,andsomehavedizziness,vertigoorboth.

突发性耳聋

突发性耳聋常是几个小时之内突然发生的中至重度的感觉神经性耳聋，可以发生于意识清醒的情况下。每年有1/10至1/的人患此疾病。典型的听力损失多见于单耳（药物引起的除外），听力损失的程度轻重不等。很多患者伴有耳鸣，部分伴有头昏或眩晕，或两者均有。
